X FORCE TRANSLATOR

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 11, 2026

X Force Translator is an independent browser extension developed by komagata. Its purpose is to translate X post text into the language you choose, using your own OpenAI API key.

Information the extension accesses

On x.com and twitter.com, the extension reads loaded post text and the official translation text/language state it needs to determine whether to request translation and display the result. Post text can include quoted posts, names, handles, links, or other personal or sensitive information included by the post's author. That text is not redacted before translation.

The extension uses your selected target language and your user-provided OpenAI API key. It does not ask for your X password or use your X account credentials to authenticate with OpenAI.

Information sent to OpenAI

The extension sends candidate post text requiring a language check or translation, together with the target language and translation instructions, directly to the OpenAI Responses API at https://api.openai.com/v1/responses over HTTPS. The request also includes the model, response-format parameters and temporary segment identifiers used to match results to text. Your API key is sent to OpenAI in the authorization header to authenticate and bill requests to your API account.

When the extension recognizes that a post already has an official X translation in the selected target language, that text does not trigger an OpenAI request. Other text may be sent for a language check even if OpenAI ultimately determines that no translation is needed. Images and videos are not sent to OpenAI for translation.

Requests set store: false. This requests that the response not be stored for later retrieval through the API; it does not guarantee that OpenAI never retains request data. OpenAI's own data handling policies, retention rules, and your account's controls apply. See OpenAI's API data controls and OpenAI's Privacy Policy. OpenAI API usage may incur charges to your account.

Local storage

Your enabled state and target language are saved in chrome.storage.local in your browser profile. The extension also stores a local key-change marker there to notify open tabs when credentials change. Settings are not synced through chrome.storage.sync.

Your API key is saved in extension-origin IndexedDB in your browser profile. The input is masked by default, with a control to reveal only what you are entering. After saving, the input is cleared, and the extension shows only whether a key is configured; it does not redisplay the saved key. Masking is a display feature, not encryption of local storage. The key is not sent to the developer or exposed to the X page by the extension.

Translation results are temporarily cached in background memory to avoid duplicate requests. The extension does not save a persistent translation history.

Developer access and data use

The developer operates no translation server and does not receive your post text, settings, or API key through this extension. The extension includes no tracking or analytics and does not sell user data. It uses and transfers information only to provide the described translation feature, not for advertising, unrelated purposes, creditworthiness, or lending.

The extension's use of user data adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Your controls

You can disable translation, change the target language, or delete your saved API key in the extension's settings. Deleting the key clears the stored credential and the extension's in-memory translation cache. Uninstalling the extension removes its local extension data from the browser profile. These actions do not delete data already processed by OpenAI; refer to OpenAI for its data controls. If you want to revoke a key itself, manage that key in your OpenAI account.
